Fuller Torrey, <strong><em>Criminalizing the Seriously Mentally Ill; <\/em><\/strong>MCES formed Montgomery County Forensic Task Force.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>1994:<\/strong> Community Lecture Series launched to commemorate MCES 20<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary; MCES provides psychiatric services at Montgomery County Correctional Facility.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>1995: <\/strong>Cited as a \u201cNotable Program\u201d in <strong><em>Double Jeopardy: Persons with Mental Illness in the Criminal Justice System<\/em><\/strong> by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>1997:<\/strong> MCES begins outpatient program for patients with intellectual disability.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>1998:<\/strong> Crisis Residential Program (CRP) (now known as Carol\u2019s Place) started as \u201cRanch House\u201d on campus of Valley Forge Medical Center; MCES Co-occurring Disorder Program initiated.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>1999: <\/strong>Expansion to 63 beds; MCES cited as \u201cAn Exemplary Project\u201d by the National Institute on Drug Abuse; Transition Specialist position and Outreach Program created to support patients at high risk of readmission after discharge.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2000: <\/strong>MCES receives the \u201cSignificant Achievement Award\u201d from the American Psychiatric Association for services on behalf of persons with mental illness at risk of incarceration.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2002: <\/strong>MCES expands to 73 inpatient beds; \u201cMy Action Plan\u201d (MAPS) Relapse Prevention Program; MAPS room created on East Wing; MCES receives \u201cAnnual Caring and Commitment Award\u201d from the Montgomery County MH\/MR Board; MCES co-founded the Montgomery County Suicide Prevention Task Force with the Montgomery County Department of Health.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2004: <\/strong>Inpatient treatment philosophy revised and treatment teams reorganized.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2005:<\/strong> MCES receives \u201cCommunity Service Award\u201d from NAMI-PA in recognition of the contribution of the MCES Criminal Justice Program\u00a0 from 1975-2005.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2008: <\/strong>MCES participates in planning and implementation of Montgomery County Mental Health Court.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2009: <\/strong>MCES introduces Certified Peer Specialists as inpatient recovery support resources; the Ongoing Abstinence Recovery Schedule\u2122 (OARS) program is introduced to help co-occurring inpatients develop a personal daily\/weekly recovery schedule to sustain sobriety after discharge.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2010: <\/strong>MCES begins after-hours coverage of Elder Abuse Hotline under contract with Montgomery County Department of Aging and Adult Services (now Office of Senior Services).<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>2012: <\/strong>MCES launches electronic medical record (EMR) system; Comfort Room opened on North Hall with funding by the Mary Daly MacFarland Foundation; MCES Crisis Services cited by Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania as an example of a comprehensive, full-service crisis program<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2013:<\/strong> MCES becomes part of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Network; Inpatient concert series featuring professional performers began and runs for a number of years.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2014: <\/strong>MCES staff stage production of Thornton Wilder\u2019s Our Town at NSH Building 33 theater; MCES partners with SEPTA to place signs with National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at commuter rail stations in SE PA; MCES launches Community Continuity-of-Care Program, funded by the van Ameringen Foundation, providing home visits by MCES nurses to recently-discharged patients to decrease re-hospitalizations.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2015: <\/strong>AMTRAK National Police Force completes MCES CIS Training; MCES receives \u201cCommunity Impact Award\u201d from American Foundation for Suicide Prevention<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2016: <\/strong>MCES develops Emergency Responder Suicide Prevention Tool Kit, which is distributed to police officers and EMTs in Montgomery County and to CIS Program trainees.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2017:<\/strong> Contracted with Bucks and Berks Counties to provide involuntary psychiatric evaluations (302s) to individuals referred to MCES from those counties; MCES becomes smoke-free; Crisis Nurse coverage initiated in MCES Crisis Department; \u201cIsrael\u2019s Room\u201d created in memory of Israel Paltin, on West Wing for use by male patients<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2018:<\/strong> Partnered with Central Behavioral Health on \u201cProject Connect,\u201d enhancing continuum of care for MCES inpatients after discharge; Observed 20th Anniversary of the Crisis Residential Program by renaming it \u201cCarol\u2019s Place\u201d in memory of Carol Caruso, a former CRP Director and mental health advocate; Montgomery County Commitment Office (MCCO) issues updated Petitioner\u2019s Handbook.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2019<\/strong>: MCES named \u201cCo-occurring Provider of Distinction\u201d by Magellan Behavioral Health for providing integrated and coordinated care to patients with co-occurring disorders.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>2020:<\/strong> MCES Physician Assistants Department received P.
