Our goal is to promote outcomes that benefit their mental health.<\/h4>\n<h4>We regularly work with law enforcement throughout the region. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/mces.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/CrisisInterventionSpecialistTrifold.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) Program<\/a> was the first of its kind in the country. It prepares police officers and other criminal justice personnel to interact safely with individuals in a behavioral health crisis. The training assures that every trainee can recognize and appropriately deal with any mental health situation.<\/h4>\n<h4>Training covers mental health law, the types and nature of psychiatric disorders, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. Suicide prevention, medications and psychiatric terminology are also covered.<\/h4>\n<h4>CIS is approved for Continuing Law Enforcement Education (CLEE) credit by the <a href=\"https:\/\/mpoetc.psp.pa.gov\/Pages\/mpoetc.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Municipal Police Education and Training Commission<\/a> (MPOETC) and for EMS Continuing Education by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.pa.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pennsylvania Department of Health<\/a>.<\/h4>\n<h4>The <a title=\"https:\/\/www.montcopa.org\/2783\/Health-and-Human-Services\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.montcopa.org\/2783\/Health-and-Human-Services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services<\/a> supports CIS training for police officers and other emergency responders in Montgomery County.
